Life is short.

Work is more.

Every person's life is itself one tell-tale, a story.

He intended to write a thrilling eventful script.

Every person aspires a powerful, eventful thrilling plot.

He or she is the central character of the theme.

Events in his/her life lead them to a helpless situation in most of the cases.

The story which Destiny makes them write is quite a different story than their original plot/theme.

It comes as the most tragic moment in his/her late-life when he/she compares notes-what they intended to write and what actually turned out.

That is life. You do not know what Destiny has kept in store for you. One thing is certain.

If you do not change path frequently, if you do not falter at the turn of circumstances against you, and that you stick to your noble profession, ultimately you are bound to succeed.

(to be continued)

He was there to enjoy rather than anything. Around him his colleagues sat

motionless, eyes half-closed  like a mass of people curled up in the shade, certain faces stood out and their strange charm drew his eyes and heart, he loved them, he listened to them, he became one with them.   This was a daily routine with the same time throughout the day.

Of all, she was aware of it. There was woven during this course of time one of the bonds of

sympathy and nearness which touched the very depths of their hearts.  Never by word of mouth they  translated into the region of consciousness when the period was over and the thread that binds souls snapped nothing is left of it.  It is a state familiar to lovers of justice especially when they were young and surrender to,  the essence of daily sittings and is so completely charmed that that the full savor is not one unless it is enjoyed through another and so it is that at a proceeding  they instinctively sought friendly eyes among the lot.

Among such friends, he was attracted by one single face which he happened to see a glimpse of it at one such proceeding.  It was the face of an aspirant who was sure to become famous like all her other senior colleagues. She seemed to adore them without realizing their real ugly piteous self and the pain and agony of the long journey in the profession had made them stones and rocks rather than humans.

She had a wonderful oval-like pleasant profile which was self proclaiming and needed no proof to convey  that she had an aristocratic bearing and gorgeous background. She had all the fine features of a well-bred maiden from a well to do family. Her eyes spoke about her self-confidence to tackle anything and everything without difficulty.  She was smiling and light-hearted about her way of life because everything had come to her easily.  It is perhaps in such light-hearted girls who are out to devote their life on a particular profession that, there is the great awakening of pleasure and joy and pride that they lived happy for the day.

It gave an exquisite pleasure to him to look at her. A pretty face would always warm his mind and heart.  He could enjoy without any desire.  He found joy in it.

She was aware that he was watching, following her.  Unconsciously there was set up between them a magnetic current of liking for each other. As they met almost every day, always in the same place and in the same circumstances, they quickly learned about each other’s likes and dis-likes. At certain times they would exchange meaningful glances at each other.  When she particularly liked some performance, of a colleague she would just put out her tongue as though to lick her lips.  If she did not think much of it, she would wrinkle-up her little nose.  In such little tricks sometimes during very serious and important proceedings she would try to look grave and serious.  She would turn her profile towards him that she was tired and exhausted or sometimes she looked  at herself quite absorbed in some matters and smile to herself and look out of the corner of her eye to see if he noticed.

They were friends without exchanging a word, and even without having attempted at least to meet outside of the routine professional hum-drum.  This went on and on for days months and years……

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ East wind has always prevailed over west wind. The Harvards, Stenfords the entire west attributes to the fact that for succeeding in one's career, MIND-SET in a particular field is essential. That is what eastern culture had proclaimed on top of their voice all these years. You were all set to frame your rules and broke all customs traditions. Any Tom Dick and Harry can not be successful in a particular field unless he has his mind-set in that particular profession. Heriditory linear descendants have seen their father, uncles, everybody in the family involved in a particular profession. The children have seen them toiling, the children have a family background and certain professional qualifications inherently get entered into his life style. As against this a Tom unknown to the field of a particular profession is at a great dis-advantage. He has no indepth foundation and background. He has to learn it by experience. It does not sell like a ready made article in the market. One has to learn it by his own experience. That is to say a lawyer's son or a daughter, or a doctor's son or a daughter is at an advantageous position in comparision to a fresh entrant in that field with no family back-ground. Now the west has realised this eternal truth and they are talking of mind-set criteria and all that.

SOME HIDE. SOME SPEAK.SOME ENDURE. BUT IT IS THERE.

After passing some years of married life,  man considers himself mal-adjusted.  Thereafter,  he carries on life who carries weight on his back for the sake of a job to carry load.  There is an under-current of dis-satisfaction, jealousy, frustration showing on his face.      He feels hankering, a sense of waste of life etc.  With many it remains a guarded secret.  It goes with him in the grave.  None speaks of it.

Take for example the life of a Prince.  He is married to the most beautiful princess of an importent kingdom.  In the life of the Prince also this type of frustration is foremost.  This is true with respect to all famous people.  This is true with respect to famous ladies. They feel much.

This is true in respect of both the genders. The woman feels like-wise after some years of married life.  There is a sense of dis-satisfaction, frustration   showing in her attitude.  She feels that she were out-matched.That she deserved better.  Every one feels him/her fooled or think it would have been better to stay single.

-----------------------------------------------

In my lighter mood, I wrote my views on different subjects.  In the beginning I started with writing about burning probllems of the country. I know it is easy to write in against or to critize about anything than offering some constructive ideas about it.  I was born and brought up by conservative  orthodox family, the mother being highly religious and believing in superstitions. My father would hold normal Hindu males would hold views on religion duty etc.  My mother's teachings and advice influenced my early school years. I was considered a shy type and an ordinery calibred student in the eyes of the teachers and the class mates. My goodness was taken as ignorence and poor knowledge on any subject.

In school debating lessons students had to spect on two sides of a suject, one in favour of the subject and the other on in opposition of the same given subject.  I would like to nerrate an incident that happened during the course of such school debates.  The given subject was"India has got Independence".

Most of the students very eagerly took part on the subject and spoke in favour side.  I was the only one who opted to speak on the against side of the subject.  I started with it was independence for name's sake. There was no real independence.  The plight of the poor remained worse.  There was shortage of everything.  There was no progress.  The leaders were involved in unnecessary debates about people welfare but actually there was no change in peoples'  life.  I criticized the ruling party for indecision.I cited of scandals mis appropriation of money and waste of our money.  I said that there should be compulsary military training and the leaders should be honest and all that.  It was the year of 1948.  The country had got independence for less than an year.  The Principal and the audience got upset and the situation took an unexpected turn. I was recalled.  The Principal pressed his button that my time was over and I was recalled. The audience of students raised protest slogans.

After the debate the class boys tore down my books, my cap some pulled my shirt collar and its buttons got uprooted from the stitches and were pulled out.  My books were torn down into pages.  When I came home, my mother saw me in such a state of affairs that she got wild mad at me because she felt I had quarrelled with fellow students again etc.

For about a month I went slow. At home I brought stationery articles gathered all old issues of Readers Digest, health journals, books of cross-word puzzles, book of thoughts and other comic books.  I started writing a wall-paper for the school students notice board and with day date and my name used to stick it in the box. The boys sometimes tore it out, passed undue comments and all that.  By the time of the end of the term my journal became a regular feature on the notice board and and it appeared students liked it as it was not torn or defaced. Gradually it seemed I was recognised as a school entity carrying some importance.  In school getting recognition was a heavy task.  Majority of the students were from families of professionals and had their own groups.  I tried to form my group by inviting them to contribute to write on my wall-paper and I took part in their activities even to the distaste of some of them.  I was glad I was getting recognition.  I started being over jolly and friendly wishing every one for anything and every thing during break-periods and lunch hours and short breaks.  I was too wished and got heads nod by them when I passed or entered their group. I took part in elections in cultural show etc.

CHAOS IN THE COUNTRY.
At the back of everything there were political leaders responsible for encouraging the farmers to sell their products at higher prices. Day to day food items like onions potatoes garlic spices went under ground creating an artificial shortage in the country with the result that their prices shot up three to four times higher than the normal prices on account of its shortage. In the matter of metals maximum profit was gathered at the hands of middlemen. In precious metals like gold etc, smuggling was a very lucrative business with the result that within 50 years a class of thousands involved in this business came into existence living on income from smuggling. Diamond polishing is prohibited in all other countries in the world. They were imported in India and a class of diamonds polishers was born consisting of hundreds of thousands surviving on this business. Railways Posts and Telegraphs Air India Indian Airlines LIC Banks and all other Government departments semi Government departments Municipalities Panchayats Road Building departments, Construction Groups joined hands and made millions with commission in every contract and low quality of work. Police Politicians nexus encouraged crime gangsters smugglers and terrorists and had a hay day. There was no grip over administration. China forced the Indian Government to resume trade relations. It dumped into India electrical, electronic goods, garlic, onions vegetables toys and many other items of day to day use. Norway dumped milk and dairy products at half the Indian rates. This has opened eyes of the local manufacturers. This has made them realize that they have to go a long way to stand in competition with real trading nations.

The thing is that we got our freedom for free without shedding much blood and suffered less than what other nations did. For example the Jews. One Crore forty Lac Jews were massacred during the Second World War. Then they got Israel. We have not seen what atrocities mean. English were soft hearted in comparison to other regimes of the world.

What Europe has seen, what America has suffered to gain independence would make our blood freeze on hearing their stories. The fights the Americans had to undergo to win every foot of land in America are before our eyes. The English Spanish, Canada, Portugal were tough opponents. The Original aboriginal was made a stooge and how George Washington and his successors have achieved the lands is very tragic history. Every President of the USA right after Washington did his best to expand territories of USA. Enough blood has been shed for this. For this ferocious battles were required to be fought. Paying them the bargained sum purchased some states like Texas Alaska.
I feel frustrated because now there is at this advanced age nothing more that I can do. All my life's labor has come to a big zero. All my efforts have gone fruitless. The wrong doers have gained name and are in high places wielding enough power in their hands. There is nothing like collective guilt. It is always individual or a misguided group but never a nation. All can not be bad for the fault of a few in the nation. To generalize this and blame a partiCular community is also a wrong analysis. Many a times I have cursed the Almighty for being a dumb spectator and not destroying the evil doers; why the Lord did not strike them down their every man woman children and chattel and everything that they had including their houses villages town cities and the country at large to be destroyed in one sway of a big earthquake.

His Almighty had not come to my rescue in the hour of the need and I hated Him too; that He had allowed me to be deserted and I was in a false notion of assurance of His security to me in the hour of the need; we being his worshippers and daily offering him our prayers for safety security and prosperity of our family. I now say that you do not exist. You are a Made up story to keep people in false hope of your protection. You Exist in Fairy Tales and not in actual life. I hated the trees the forests the animals and everything. But with the passing of the years, after a heart surgery and heart-valve transplant, I think I have come back to God. I ask for forgiveness for my bad decisions. I now love this world the trees the animals the nature the scenarios the mountains the rivers and the lakes and the beauty of the morning Sun. I have understood Life. I now realize that to understand is to forgive everything when we understand the people their greed their lust for power and money. One can forgive. One can not forget. One remembers. There are some whose crimes surpass all comprehension and there fore to forgive them is a folly. They are still with us. Walking with us; working with us, smiling with us shaking hands with us. This is true failure. But as time passes all is forgotten. I myself have made amends and I love Him as before. I believe in his justice. I was too small to understand his comprehension and caliber to run the administration of this vast Universe meticulously and with precision accuracy. Long Live His Almighty. Forgive me for my small mindedness to abuse you for which you shall pardon me as Mother pardons her Child.

A STITCH IN TIME WOULD HAVE SAVED NINE.
We have to be alarmed by seeing rapid development of China's too fast nuclear capability. This is not a development done in a day. It dates back to preparations of at least 20 years. When we were shouting Hindi Chin Bah at the top of our voice it was engaged in this aspect also. We have been caught sleeping once again. Our leaders can not be allowed to escape of their negligence. Reports indicate that it has achieved capability to possess Atom bombs as early as 1964. The Super Powers have been responsible also in allowing China to be a world super power. The so called big could not infiltrate to sabotage or blockaded this country by way of air-attacks on these developments in the guise of China's invasion of Taiwan and should have taken a tacit -
Nuclear attack to destroy experts and bombing equipment available with that country if direct force use would have been not advisable in view of international opinion on such attacks. At least the world powers should have been unanimous in co-operating with the other block in bringing pressure by way of diplomatic pressure by offering the China economic assistance as to attract it to forego to develop and. pursue their nuclear program. They were content with the belief that China's nuclear capacity would never be great enough to pose a threat interests of the world powers and that the Chinese would never resort to recklessness in its use in a given situation. Air attacks on Chinese nuclear sites to destroy the man-power and material used for atomic purposes was not undertaken for fear of violent reaction from that country for which the world will have to pay a heavy price which future would only confirm.
Could I have you forever? Combating nuclear expansion
through diplomatic channels did not yield desired results as can be seen today with respect to that country's nuclear proficiency. Could we have peace forever? Could I hold you forever? Could I have you forever?

It is seen from old records that China did conduct their first nuclear test on October 14 of 1964 alarming all the nations of the world. It could be now possible that a country like China would be able to inflict great damage to the Supper Powers because of their proficiency in acquiring nuclear technology mastery. Direct action was required to be initiated against Chinese nuclear capabilities. Even policy of assassinating Chinese Nuclear staff for a longer time effect was necessary. Destruction of research and development facilities in this area and personnel would have achieved a desired effect. Policy of the world powers to combat nuclear expansion through diplomatic pressure and imposing sanctions has not had the desired results as can be seen in the context of the present situation vis a vis nip it in the bud.

Thomas D ' Quinsy's work of fiction, "Confessions of an Opium Eater "depicted a vivid graph of lives of people addicted to this vice during the last century. Our Country was also very well known for its high consumption of opium especially at the hands of the State Rulers, - the kingly States. Poppy cultivation was done in the fields owned by the Rulers. Public at large also was engaged in poppy cultivation and it was an agricultural activity like other crops grown in the country. Liquid opium was distributed in the courts of the Rulers to office bearers and invited guests as a token of friendship solidarity and a bond of trust to come to rescue of one another in times of need. There was also considerable quantity of hemp growing for the poorer class of the people. Poppy cultivation was for the rulers and grown in their private fields where large number of women-folk used to work in the fields to collect opium liquid trom the leaves of the poppy seeds. It was a skilled job and required enough care to see that the knife penetrated the fallen leaf to a certain extent to allow the liquid to flow out to be collected on a banana leaf which when dried was brown colored lump of opium. Opium was the last stage and was taken into consumption. It was only in the beginning of the last century that opium was further processed into morphine base by simple laboratory process wherein the lumps of brown opium was transformed into brown sugar and when it came out of the centrifugal it was white Heroin powder. Acidic anhydride is a chemical used in the process of refining brown sugar to Heroin. The same is available in India at RS.40 or 50. Afghanistan pays RS.400 t0500 and it has proved a roaring trade.

In Mandsore fields poppies grow Behind the hills in rows and rows.
Burma Siam and Indonesia fall in the Golden Triangle area and Iran Afghanistan and Pakistan are in the golden crescent zone. Flow of traffic moves as per safety prior arrangements and convenience. It is reported that presently traffic flows from our country to Ceylon Singapore Hong Kong to Honolulu in Hawaii islands in USA.
We need dedicated staff to work without glamour and willing to live life of loneliness and where there is no place for family problems and worries of children education etc and all other ambitions of life. Traffic is expanding day by day. Fear of the law is forgotten. If caught there is a large battery force of lawyers to tree them. This has made them fearless despite stringent Narcotics Act in force in our country. This evil disease has out grown itself into an unmanageable proportion. Efforts to curb this evil needs to be still accelerated. We have to deploy under-cover agents and operatives to work as informers. Only collecting intelligence by mixing with the people involved in this business can combat this evil. They need to be identified and our fellows should manage to infiltrate themselves in their organization.
Police Officers and Customs Officers have to be selected and deployed as Taxi drivers bartenders porters at warehouses and at vulnerable junctions in port areas, coolies at Railway stations and bus depots through out the length and breadth of the country as a combating force to counter attack this evil disease. They will have to sublimate their real identity and merge themselves into dirty surroundings and pass on their day to day information on activities in this area to the higher up central agency. This small thread of information would be spun into a solid reliable form of a big rope to hang the drug traffickers and would depict a real picture of their links contacts and machinery involved in this business. The small data fed by the field agents would be able to be tested by collaboration with similar reports from other agents and a bigger picture of the network would emerge giving birth to a pattern of link trade channel routes of movements and contact agencies and persons and vehicles involved in movement of the drugs brought by way of cargo under mis-description, passenger baggage diplomatic pouch or hand satchel of an Air-line hostess coming from Singapore Hong Kong or Karachi.
Likewise in other countries of South America there is a Cocaine Estate. The natives of the South American states chewed coca leaves. The Spanish made it a business and traded in sale of whole sale Coca leaves and made fortunes. Columbia is a country where all the refining process of coca takes place and Cocaine is shipped mostly to USA via different routes. Peru and Bolivia are the principal growers of coca plants. But the market is captured by Columbia and dominates cocaine trade in the international market. The syndicate is reported to be responsible for assassinating at least 30 judges and an attorney general and thousands of Colombian other officers and its citizens. This was at its peak in the seventies. Now it fetches US $ 25000 a kg if shipped in the US territories. As against this the same quantity fetches US $ 45000 in Europe.

Next step is to stamp out the illegal organ trade. It is reported that a black market continues to exist in India Pakistan Nepal Bangladesh Ceylon, Burma Philippines, Indonesia etc where patients from the rich countries can get kidneys from locals for as little as US $ 2000. They sell their kidneys through brokers to patients from Gulf countries, Japan Canada and the United States. The transplant operations are performed in their local hospitals. Some transplant surgeons throw a package deal to the foreign patients for US 30000 $ arranging everything from the donor to a private recovery room. It is easy money according to the illiterate people over there but they do not know the importance of God gifted body parts and sell them at a throwaway price. Decades of hardships have compelled the slum dwellers to sell out their organs.

Our Country was moving towards a true democracy, free enterprise and partnership with world powers. Political scandals~ rebel uprising and recession have sent it reeling. Yet even in the choking sprawl of the cities, timeless support of family, faith music, religion and laughter creates a resilience that fears about the future can not erode. The story of our country echoes the land itself, an arduous landscape of peaks and valleys rising and
falling like the country's tumultuous history. Growth and decline, hope and disappointment - all play out across the centuries here. Our land, which nourished our Civilization, has endured the shock of attacks by the Huns, Muslims the English, frequent wars, poverty, and civil travail to be born again as something new. Today our people seem to be poised for an another momentous change. Rich in natural resources, blessed with strong family ties and a hardworking people. We are poised for moving from rank of a developing nation into a new role, as a modern player on the world arena. These hopes have been tarnished at least for the present by political corruption, civil unrest, environmental pollution, and faulty Government policies. Drug trafficking and illegal immigration is on a rise. Such ripples touch our neighbors in all directions for our lives are closely linked with the affairs of our neighboring countries. Some international agency from the UNO has to explore how we are facing the current political and economic crisis and gauge how we are shaping our future. The portrait would reflect a complex country caught in a moment of rebirth between a turbulent past and a promising future. Long shadowed by the English rule over our country, we move towards economic and social reform for those families in remote villages, the keeping of this promise could reverse centuries of inequity. Across the country people are waiting, driven by the decay of the political parties, by the pressure of financial mismanagement, by modern links to the outside world and by a gradual building of agitation at all levels, change is inevitable. Its direction is not known. Will there be economic disaster or civil war or is this tension a necessary prelude to a revitalized country ready to lead the world as one of the great nations? The country is struggling. This country almost a continent with a population of hundred crores second after China is facing the worst ever chaos and disorder and lawlessness at the hands of its own rulers. Our country consists of villages. Local bodies have failed to stand up to the needs of the people. The ruling party has formed a net of corruption from top to bottom, which can not be penetrated. Public services have held the people at ransom. Banks, Schools Colleges, Universities, Public Sector units, Communications Railways, Airlines, Government departments have been monopolized by the staff.  Pollution in every field is increasing to no limit. The gap between the rich and the poor is widening. The middle class man is sandwiched in between. The people in the cities as also the villages are getting restless. They are waiting for some miracle to happen. There are no defined boundaries even on the international borders of the country. There are loose boundaries between inter-states. In villages every field has its own shape and size. Every road has an unexpected curve and turn. In the villages the thrust is on agriculture. There are crowds and crowds talking and gossiping standing at the entrance of the village drinking tea or smoking Indian biris. An idle-man is a devil's workshop. This is true of the village crowds. The youth is frustrated and aimless. He has no directions. He does not know his future. They have dreams of a good life. On dreams they survive. Witb.out dreams they would get dried up and bitter.

Over-population has sickened the cities. The cities are encircled by smog generated by the vehicles, the factories making eyes burn, nose run and throats rasp. This is with respect to every city in the country. Environmental pollution is at its height. The poor are the worst sufferers. They live in slums. They have no access to pure water. Sanitation and hygienic conditions are poor. There is a mad rush towards the cities. The cities as it is are over populated. They can not absorb extra migrants. In towns and cities, business is at its lowest ebb. Businesses have failed. Unemployment is high. Business is undertaken on family ties and relations and not on merits and modern methods. Chief executives are linked by blood rather than professional background. Business transactions are conducted on much more personal level.

Corruption is an integrated part of the system. The people do not feel particularly offended by it. It has been accepted as a fact of life. It is interwoven in traditions and structures. As one old man in the village laments, "These are ungrateful times." Irregular rains have ruined the life in the villages. Four years of drought have forced many a helpless to migrate to towns and cities in search of government assistance or jobs.
It is a gift the democracy has given to its people. You can have influence as a humble man in a little town if you know the local member of the legislative assembly. Corruption gives anybody and everybody an access. "'But revelations that the top leaders were involved in scams and scandals of billions have shocked the people. To fight corruption
is to risk your life. The coin has been tossed but it hangs in air. Nobody knows what the future will be. This is our country we do not want to accept and acknowledge. People live in utmost poverty, scratching at modernity part time with nothing and part time with things they can not afford. The future will work will reconcile our past with reality. No one is sure of anything. Every where money is tight. Necessities of life have increased. They stand outside the house of the money lender. He gives the usual reply of no money available and asks to come later or send some one to inquire. Our country's character changes from street to street. It is a country of diversity in unity. It is tough place to live in border areas. It has plenty of noise, dirt pollution corruption drugs and crime. It is a land of opportunity, a magnet of opportunity. You do not come here to give up. You come here to survive against all odds. The border areas are a place of fresh chance flexible class structures, hustle and hope. All are lost in hope and daydreams. Without hope they would not have survived so far. Every day rises with new hopes and every evening sets with a new future. People have paralyzed themselves in dreams and hopes. The government and the administrators do not want people making noise. They do not want small things to turn into big things. In other words they are maid. The banks are broke so the people operate without them as if they were never there. The middle class people are now tired of this sort of stagnancy. They want a change. They want something to happen to make life easy for them. They represent half of the population of the country.
